I absolutely love open-concept layouts! We were so thrilled to find our rancher with a wide open, airy floor plan. What I didn’t factor in, however, was the design challenge that would come from having very few walls to work with.
The first thing we did after closing was rip out the carpet in the great room (along with the master bedroom) and lay down fresh new hardwoods to match the existing floors. What a difference they made! We also removed an oddly placed gas fireplace to the left and built a floor to ceiling stone fireplace on the large wall opposite of it (see my living room reno post for all the details).I ordered a velveteen couch, matching chair & ottoman and two matching leather wingbacks from Z Gallerie (my all time fave store!) Since the Pierre chair didn’t have an ottoman option, we had the Pauline ottoman covered in the same Gray fabric and silver nailheads- it worked out perfectly!
I originally fell in love with the Eddie Chair in what they called ‘white’. However, when the arrived at our house, they were definitely… ivory! No bueno! I had to send them back and have them replaced with the Pebble Accents instead. I do still love the Eddie, though 😦
Cheers to grey!
