Tackling a Ginormous Master Bedroom

Ok, so in the search for a new home, I typically look for the following first:

  1. a fabulous kitchen
  2. a great overall flow
  3. a large master suite

Luckily, when we came across our new place, it had all of my top 3 musts.  Now that I’m in the beginning stages of dressing my home, I’m rethinking #3!

I thought our master was a great size in our last home, but this new one is twice as large.  Great!, you’re thinking, righ?!  Not so much- well not so much if you don’t own enough furniture to fill said room.  UGH!  In our last room, our oversized cali-king headboard looked massive- in a good way, of course.  When I saw the movers set it up in the new room I had to do a double take.  That huge wall swallows up what once was a ginormous, stately headboard!  Crud, what do I do with all of the open space.  Not to mention I have about 16 feet between the foot of the bed and the opposite wall to play with.

So, while I lay awake at night contemplating the perfect furniture and the best arrangement of it all, I welcome you to enjoy some of my inspiration photos…

Great use of materials! Creating focal wall with both a pattern AND texture is beyond genius!

Here’s a bright idea for occupying large, empty spaces- position a sofa in front of a window vs at the foot of the bed.
