Playing Catch Up- Game On!

Ok, I admit it- I’ve been a badddd little blogger… but for good reasons, I suppose.

We’ve been busy around here lately- ‘here’ being an entirely different place than ‘here’ was in my last post.  ‘Here’ now represents our own little space in the dirty south.  North Cackalacky to be exact!

WV to NC

To Catch Y’all Up:

The New Year brought along lots of changes for us in the AWDL home- great changes really, but life altering ones that take significant time to work through.  To start, Mr. AWDL was offered a position within his company in Charlotte, NC.  We both have had a lifelong love affair with the Queen City so we where stoked at the opportunity!  But, with that excitement, stress quickly followed.  Within two weeks time, we found ourselves embarking on the not-so-fun adventure of relocation madness.  His company wanted him right away, so quickly so that we had almost no time to decide anything- where we would live; buy vs rent; if we rented until we found a house, would they allow our furbaby; who would keep Mr. Baby while we were at work…. work?  Oh yeah, what about my job?? EEK!  I had been on maternity leave for so long that my career almost seemed nonexistent at that very the moment.  Thankfully, by the grace of God, I would be granted a transfer within my company, too- keeping things ‘mostly’ normal for me- SHWOOH!  Ok, everything was set…. right?!  HARLDY!  As I was coming to the end of my leave, I had a lot of loose ends to tie up!  What will I do with my 14 week old baby in a new city, working a new territory and, the scariest of them all, how will I adapt to working for the first time in my life as a {brand new} momma?!!!! B-R-E-A-T-H-E…..

The long and short of it really is the timing.  Had we been given more time to think things out, to reallllly think about how significantly our lives were going to change, how we would be leaving our mothers that assisted so much with Mr. Baby (and our furbaby), how we would manage to sell our home in WV- while living in NC, when we could find time to pack up the last 3 years of our lives, how we would decide on a new home when we weren’t even sure of where we wanted to live, blah blah blah… had we been given more ‘time’, I probably would have talked us right out of it.  That’s the bottom line.  I’m not a risk taker.  I’m not one of those ‘fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants’ type of girl.  I’m a planner.  I plan…. everything.  And, I over-analyze those plans… over and over again- to a fault- just to be sure that I’m laying out the best plan for the best possible outcome.  So yes, to answer your next question- my head does spin around like Linda Blair & it does on a daily basis LOL)!

For next 4 weeks, we were split up- Mr. AWDL and Mr. Baby living and working in WV while I stayed with family and started work in NC.  Although those few weeks were less than ideal, we somehow made it through.  With the unending assistance of our realtor, a friend of mine from high school, we were able to find a great house in a new subdivision that I think we’re going to love.  We’ve been in our new home for 2 weeks now and we are set to close on our WV home at the end of the month.  Things really are starting to finally fall into place… finally!

I can’t wait to begin the journey of turning our new house into a fabulous home- and can’t wait to share it with y’all! Posts, pics and tutorials to come!  *promise*
